Anatomy, Physiology
& Pathology.
Foundation
Course.
The purpose of this course is to provide a firm foundation in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology in preparation for attendance of the full professional training in Cranio-Sacral Therapy. It is also suitable for practitioners in a wide range of other alternative disciplines.
Those without sufficient grounding in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology will be required to attend this course (or a suitable equivalent). This can be done either before the Cranio-Sacral Therapy course or in conjunction with the first year of the two-year course. This course consists of seven weekends from October to June with a substantial amount of course work in between. Successful completion of the final exam entitles the student to a Certificate and eligibility to attend the Cranio-Sacral Therapy course.
The course is presented in a lively, stimulating, and inspiring manner, with an emphasis on practical understanding of the human body in holistic terms, rather than mere theoretical learning. There is a particular emphasis on Pathology (an area not covered in depth in the majority of Anatomy and Physiology courses).
Objectives:
The objectives of this course are to provide a
clear and thorough practical working knowledge of the Anatomy and
Physiology of all the major systems within the human body, together
with an understanding of Pathology both from an orthodox and holistic
perspective. This should provide a sufficiently solid
grounding for healthcare practitioners in a variety of different
disciplines.
Course Content:
The course will cover the Anatomy, Physiology
and common Pathology of all the major systems within the body,
including:
- Cell Structure and Cell Physiology
- Histology - Tissue Types
- the Skeletal System
- Arthrology - the study of joints
- the Muscular System
- the Nervous System
- the Cardio-Vascular System
- the Lymphatic System
- the Respiratory System
- the Gastro-Intestinal System
- the Endocrine System
- the Urinary System
- the Reproductive System
Course Notes: Comprehensive course notes
will be provided.
Booklist: A booklist will be provided,
and specific references to required and recommended text books are
designed to assist you in your studies.
Home Study: Regular home study will be

Assessment: Progress will be monitored
