Prospectus.
Course Structure.
The complete professional training comprises 36
days and is available in two principle forms:
- 1 Year Course: Six 6-day stages
spread over a year in London (also available at other times in
various countries).
- 2 Year Course: Eighteen weekends (6
groups of 3 weekends) spread over two years.
The practice of Cranio-Sacral Therapy requires
the development of a high degree of sensitivity. These courses are
structured in such a way as to provide time between each stage for
development of such sensitivity, and ample opportunity for practice,
development and proper absorption of each level before proceeding to
the next, so that at each stage the student can build on previous
experience.
A Practical Course.
In all parts of the training, the emphasis is
on practical work, with a balance of approximately two thirds
practical to one third theoretical work. Home study is also required,
both in terms of practical practice and theoretical study.
The course consists of a varied blend of
lectures, demonstrations, guided practical sessions, visualisations,
tutorial work, individual checking with course tutors, continuous
assessment and a substantial amount of practical work - in which
students work together and with the tutors in pairs or in small groups
encountering and gaining experience of many different Cranio-Sacral
Systems.
Course Notes and
Visual Aids.
Detailed course notes are provided throughout
the course and visual aids including slides, videos, CD ROM, skulls,
skeletons and other models are used to provide a clear visual
understanding of the Cranio-Sacral System.
Tutor Support.
The tutors work with every student during the
course, circulating so that each student has the opportunity to work
with each of the tutors at various times, gaining a range of different
experiences and individual feedback.
There are regular Study Groups, Teaching
Clinics and Tutorials between the stages of the course. A tutorial
system is in place so that tutors are also available for tutorials,
advice and support between seminars.
Practice.
Practical practice is essential for all
students in order to make progress and develop sensitivity. Students
are encouraged to practice together with fellow students as much as
possible.
Home study is also essential and is assigned at
each part of the course, with more substantial assignments in the
latter half of the course. Background reading is also required. A
booklist of required and recommended reading is provided.
Assessment and Feedback:
Assessment and feedback are provided
continuously throughout the course, through short written tests,
homework and regular practical interaction with the tutors - in order
to help students to understand how they are progressing, to identify
where any weaknesses may lie, and to assist students to progress as
smoothly and effectively as possible.
Some students may wish to extend their studies
over a longer period and students are encouraged to proceed at their
own pace, rather than rushing to complete the course or rushing into
the exams.
Following completion of the course the final
exams consist of a written and a practical assessment.
Course Objectives.
The aim of these courses is to produce
thoroughly trained professional Cranio-Sacral Therapists. The course
is designed to provide a comprehensive systematic approach to
Cranio-Sacral treatment through which the principles of Cranio-Sacral
Therapy can be applied in a coherent, effective and well integrated
manner.
The courses also provide a clear approach to
the management of a Cranio-Sacral session, personal development as a
therapist, professional handling of treatment responses and an overall
holistic perception of the patient. Throughout the course attention is
given to the important process of personal development as a therapist.
Successful graduation leads to a Diploma in
Cranio-Sacral Therapy. Following graduation, a variety of
Post-Graduate courses and events is available.
