Virtuoso jazz/boogie pianist Louis Vause celebrates release of second album. In October 2006, following the success of his debut album Pianophernalia (Transcopic), musician and entertainer Louis Vause will be releasing his second album Mechanicatastrophe via idiosyncratic High Coin label.

--

Louis has finished contributing to new tracks for Graham Coxon at Olympic Studios in Barnes. The album - as yet untitled - is the follow up to the critically acclaimed 'Happiness in Magazines'. Should be out later this year or early 2006. From what he has heard this sounds even better than that and certainly Graham is 'exceedingly pleased'. Stephen Street is producing once more.

Technical hitches have delayed the release of the new DVD, 'Boogie and Blues - The all new Beginners Guide' . Will keep you updated as these are resolved.

Slovakian Radio have emailed Louis saying they love "Pianophernalia' and would like to do a feature on him early in 2006. Louis plans to visit the country some time this year.

--

(2004): 'Pianophernalia' is being used on Radio 4 on Monday 15th March in a play at 2.15 in the afternoon called 'Harry in the Underworld' starring Richard E. Grant which is a bit of a thrill.

Louis contributed his keyboard skills to the the recording of the new album by Graham Coxon to be released in May with a first single due out at the end of February. He thinks (as do those in the know) that this is Grahams best so far. Stephen Street has produced it with the same attention to detail that he has lavished on Blur and Morrissey in the past.

Louis is currently working on material for a new album - some piano solos and some pieces that will require a band.

The band and Louis will play their first two gigs in May:

Sunday afternoon - the 9th - at The Fiddlers Elbow, Prince of Wales Road, NW5.

The Brighton Festival - Tuesday lunchtime (the 11th, 2004).

If all goes to plan recording will commence shortly after that.

2003 saw The Louis Vause Orchestra make an appearance in the forthcoming

Paramount Picture, 'Alfie', with Jude Law taking the title role.

A very exciting commission, Louis formed a twelve piece swing band especially for the job.

Lets see how much footage is salvaged from the cutting room floor!
The scene to look out for is a New Years Eve celebration in a New York night club.

The film is currently scheduled for release either at the end of 2004 or the beginning of 2005.

--

Louis and Seamus Beaghen shot some additional scenes for a projected DVD re-issue of

'A Beginners Guide to Boogie and Blues'.

These have gone very well - indeed so well that the DVD will virtually be a new release!
We are currently finishing the edit and looking for distribution. More news as it comes.
Louis has had several emails wondering whether the tracks on the album 'Pianophernalia' are available in book form for those players who read and find playing by ear difficult. The good news is that Louis has
started work on this and hopes to complete the transcriptions by sometime in the Autumn or Winter of this year.
